In our efforts to support sustainable agriculture, Cafe Altura and the Finca Irlanda farm in Chiapas, Mexico introduced the first "biodynamically" grown coffee into the United States in 1993. Biodynamics is an evolved system of organic agriculture that blends the forces of nature with the influences of the moon and stellar constellations. Biodynamic farms are viewed as a whole organism, are virtually self-contained, and use certain preparations, such as specially developed compost, to be used to aid in plant and soil development.
